5320 – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 (USA)

GUILDFORD, U.K. - Today the EA Play Label of Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 videogame is available to buy on multiple platforms in stores throughout North America and Europe.

The Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 videogame is packed from start to finish with action. Players will be on the run, fighting for survival on a desperate and dangerous quest to locate and destroy Voldemort's Horcruxes, engaging with Death Eaters and Snatchers in epic battle sequences at every turn. To amplify the action, players will encounter ferocious creatures, and will need to muster their most powerful magic against relentless assaults from all sides. No more lessons. No more training. It's time for players to fight for their lives.

"There's no doubt that this is the most exhilarating Harry Potter game we've made to date," says Jonathan Bunney, VP, Head of Production at EA Bright Light™. "The darker tone of the movies and books, together with the rich action storyline of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 and the potential of HD gaming technology has enabled the development team to give the player more powerful magic, more dangerous enemies and an overall more exciting experience than ever before. It's an entirely new Harry Potter experience that we believe both fans of the franchise and action games will love."

Players will, for the first time, be able to use Harry's wand as the ultimate weapon, unleashing an arsenal of formidable magic to defeat attackers, protect themselves from harm and evade capture. Players will also find a number of potions throughout the world - which can be used in combat and for stealth. A dynamic cover mechanic will enable the tactical player to utilize existing objects as cover, or magically create their own, on the fly. And Harry's famed Invisibility Cloak will allow players to sneak past more deadly enemies, or get to various points unseen. The game also includes a series of challenges, available from the main menu and separate from the single player campaign, that offers both local and online leaderboards to compare best scores and times across the globe.

Developed by EA Bright Light Studio, the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 videogame is now available for the Xbox 360, which offers an additional KINECT mode where players can actually cast magic via gestures, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS, Windows PC, and mobile devices.

This is a English translation of the Japanese video game, Dragon Quest VI: maboroshi no daichi for the Nintendo DS. It is "beta" only because I am the only person bored enough to translate & edit this who doesn't suck.

Please support Square-Enix and Nintendo in February when they publish Dragon Quest VI. It is a fun and whimsical adventure explicitly created for North American and European audiences.

*Problems*
I do not recommend using the passerby/wifi system on your DS.You will probably end up leaving unintelligible comments on Japanese players' DS. You can use a save editor to collect
fake dream confessions to unlock the inn.The best dresser contest registration menu was missed by the hacker.

After all legendary arms are collected you may start noticing typos or errors. This is where I stopped editing currently. It's tiring when you don't have an editor...

5180 – Super Scribblenauts (USA) [NEW PATCH]

Scribblenauts changed the way we thought about playing portable computer games. No, it really did. How many times have you played a game and thought 'I know! I'll see if I can get a dinosaur to sit on this evil magician and grab the crystal using a boomerang'? Yeah, thought so – a lot, right?

5th Cell's Nintendo DS platformer saw players write the names of objects to bring them to life and help overcome the game's various obstacles. Super Scribblenauts takes that to the next level, by allowing the player to write any object that comes to mind and modify it in any way they choose using adjectives.

The goal remains the same – take advantage of the DS' touch screen to reach the goal marker. This time, lead hero Maxwell aims to acquire the Starite, a prize earned from solving the puzzle in redesigned levels. It makes for some fun interactions, but the addition of adjectives add a lot of depth.

Now, objects can be defined by colour, size, particular elements and behaviour patterns. Combine multiple adjectives together and get yourself a truly original object created right in front of you. Recognition of more words also allows for greater creativity so you can let your imagination run wild!

5267 – Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (USA) [NEW PATCH]

A classic role-playing game branches out with a new look, countless adventures and heroic battles. The game picks up 30 years after the first two games in the series left off. At the end of Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the heroes succeeded in bringing the world-healing power of the Golden Sun back to the world of Weyard. In the years since, the immense power of the Golden Sun has changed nearly everything. Continents have shifted. New countries have emerged. New species have appeared. But the world is now imperiled by a new threat. Psynergy Vortexes, which suck the elemental Psynergy from both the land and power-wielding Adepts alike, are spreading across the world. The new generation of heroes - the children of those from the previous games - are drawn into the mystery behind the vortexes, as they cross a chaotic world that is succumbing to a new evil.

5313 - Atari's Greatest Hits Volume 1 (USA)

Compilations of classic arcade and console games have been a recurring theme for the past few years. I think they really started to become popular with publishers when the PlayStation 2 was established, and that carried over to the current generation consoles where they could be resold with updated graphics.

While we all like to relive our childhoods playing these usually very hard games, there are issues with doing so on a console. The main problem is these games were meant for standard definition TVs no bigger than 32-inches, and in most cases much smaller non-widescreen displays. The result today on a 40-inch HD TV with a PS3 or Xbox 360 attached is something that looks really dated, yet still requires loading time for the console to handle the 20+ year-old graphics. Add to that the limited number of games supplied on a 25GB Blu-ray disc or DVD, and you are left feeling a bit short-changed.

Generally the experience is therefore not always pleasant and I bet many gamers don’t even consider picking up yet another compilation title. And who could blame them? There’s usually game overlap between discs, the navigation from game to game is cumbersome, and the play time of the really old games too short to warrant the time to load them.

With this latest compilation Atari is taking a different approach. As it’s on DS there are no load times and no HD screens to contend with. The decision was also taken to not ship a handful of games, instead Atari Greatest Hits Volume 1 has 50 games. That’s a serious amount of titles on one cartridge for less than $30. You really can’t complain about the value aspect.

The 50 games are split between Atari arcade and Atari 2600 titles, with most falling into the 2600 category. With the arcade games you get a screen giving you simple and arcade control options as well as a short summary of what you are expected to do. For the 2600 games there are more options on offer including game mode selection and the option to play as if on a black and white TV.

Here’s the complete list of games you will have access to:

Arcade Titles:
Asteroids
Battlezone
Centipede
Gravitar
Lunar Lander
Missile Command
Pong
Space Duel
Tempest

Atari 2600 Titles:
3D Tic-Tac-Toe
Adventure
Air-Sea Battle
Asteroids
Atari Video Cube
Basketball
Battlezone
Bowling
Centipede
Championship Soccer
Dodge ’Em
Flag Capture
Football
Fun with Numbers
Gravitar
Hangman
Haunted House
Home Run
Human Cannonball
Math Gran Prix
Miniature Golf
Missile Command
Outlaw
Realsports Baseball
Realsports Boxing
Realsports Football
Realsports Tennis
Realsports Volleyball
Sky Diver
Slot Maching
Slot Racers
Sprintmasters
Starship
Stella Track
Submarine Commander
Surround
Swordquest Earthworld
Swordquest Fireworld
Swordquest Waterworld
Tempest
Video Checkers

It’s important to stress these are the original games. Developer Code Mystics has done nothing to improve the graphics or simplify the gameplay beyond offering alternative control options. But that’s how a greatest hits collection should be–the original games untouched.

While some of these games are a reminder of how poor classic gaming could be, there are some gems in there you’ll remember if you’re old enough. But then again, there’s some missing you’d expect to find in a first volume of Atari classics. Where’s Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Kaboom!, River Raid, Pitfall or E.T.?
