Buy a toy, name a star. That's the signature gimmick driving sales of the Shining Stars brand of stuffed animals, a product line which strives to set itself apart from competitors like Care Bears and Webkinz by allowing boys and girls to officially give a registered name to a star in the sky for every Shining Star doll that they buy. It's a cute idea, and one that gave rise to a small Internet hub for kids that serves to manage all the star-naming registry business, and also offers some browser-based mini-games to play.
