In the age of the pirates, one pirate named Gold Roger left an incredible treasure behind, the "One Piece", hidden in a place known as the Grand Line. Many pirates attempted to find One Piece, but ended in vain. A young boy, known as Monkey D. Luffy, admired a group of pirates and promised to them that he would one day become the greatest pirate and find the One Piece. However, Luffy eats a devil's fruit by accident, and his whole body became turned to rubber. 

Instead of giving up on his dream, Luffy uses that accident to his advantage, and learns how to manipulate his body to fight. Ten years later, Luffy leaves his hometown to gather a crew of pirates and to obtain the One Piece.
